Web 2.0 is nothing new.  In internet time, it’s almost ancient.  What makes it different from other fads and trends on the world wide web is that it is in a continuous state of growth fueled by increasing interest, innovations, and platforms.  The social news segment is growing in popularity, replacing traditional media sources as the “go to” place to get the daily news fix for more and more people every day.  Because it is user driven, people get the sensation of being involved with the stories and communities that interest them. 

Social News Watch is designed to get the story behind the stories, digging deeper into the underlying mechanisms that drive the news, the websites, and the people behind it all.  We will look fleetingly at the history, focus on the present, and speculate about the future.
